Inpatiens

Clinica IMQ Zorrotzaurre has 6 inpatient floors located in the versatile building.

Visitors and those who are going to be admitted as inpatients can enter the clinic through the separate entrance located in Calle Ballets Olaeta, designed with a specific information desk and several admissions desks.

The cafe, a florist’s and a newsagent’s are situated next to this entrance.

On the first floor, we find the Gynaecology Unit, the Surgical Procedures Unit and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for patients that require special care and monitoring. The Day Care Unit and the Respiratory and Digestive Endoscopy Department are also located on this floor.

The entire second floor is dedicated to gynaecology and obstetrics inpatients, the Baby Unit and the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, thus differentiating them from admissions for other illnesses.

Floors three to six house patients with different conditions. They are laid out by specialty in order to facilitate the work of the medical and nursing staff whilst ensuring more comfortable and faster communication between patients and family members and the doctor in charge of their case.

  • Our Surgical Procedures Unit has: 7 operating theatres for major surgery, 2 operating theatres for minor surgery, and 1 endourology suite.

The layout and functionality of the operating theatres is designed to respect the clean and dirty circuit at all times, maintaining JCI standards of quality and patient safety.

All operating theatres at Clinica IMQ Zorrotzaurre are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, screens for projecting tests, laparoscopic instruments, anaesthetic carts, etc. One of the operating theatres has a da Vinci Robot, used for urological surgery (one of the teams was the first in the Basque Country to use this system in this area) and gynaecology, and it will soon also be used for general surgery and other specialties.

The Surgical Procedures Unit also houses the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with capacity for 12 patients. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is next to the Surgical Procedures Unit and Gynaecology. It has 14 large, bright bedrooms that aid the patient’s emotional well-being and recovery. Both units are designed so that the patient is constantly within view and monitored.

Casualties Services

24-HOUR CASUALTIES SERVICE. Specialists available in person 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

The Casualty Department at Clínica IMQ Zorrotzaurre has implemented an approved system called TRIAGE for improving the quality of healthcare. This process is designed to promptly assess and prioritise patients according to the severity of their condition, getting the patient to the right resources in the right place. This is the key to providing efficient and effective care: treating patients not in order of their arrival at Casualties but in order of the seriousness of their symptoms.

The Casualty Department is conveniently located to ensure patients have immediate access, where necessary, to the Surgical Procedures or Gynaecology Units, and also to the inpatient area if the patient’s condition requires hospitalisation, thus ensuring patients can be moved quickly and safely
